Fall Block Party!

After a morning of Passion Project presentations we enjoyed an afternoon celebrating the end a super productive and successful first quarter of third grade and the wonderful season of Fall! The students (along with all third graders) moved from classroom to classroom collecting snacks and other goodies. They returned to the classroom to eat, socialize and craft together. Thanks to everyone who donated supplies for this day and to the parents who helped this not so crafty teacher :)

Passion Projects!

WOW!! That is all I can say about the awesomeness that came into our classroom in the form of Passion Projects on October 31st! The excitement to share, to change into costume and to present what they learned was incredible. I am very proud of their hard work! Take a look...

Sorting, graphing and writing oh my!

**In this post you see the beginning of a sorting and graphing activity. They were given a pile of candy and they had to sort it by whichever attribute their group decided and then graph the data.

**During class I let the students work independently wherever they feel the most comfortable. During writing this is a powerful time for them. It is always interesting to me to see how the students work best. Some stay st their seats, some need to lay in the floor and some just need a more comfortable chair! :)

**I think that one of the most amazing happenings during the first quarter was during our power typing time in the library. During this time I witnessed almost every student focused and putting so much effort forth to type the final copies of their passion projects.
