Our fraction unit was a blast! The students worked to find equal parts of a whole - some were so very clever with geoboards! We used Hershey bars to show fractions (and of course we ate them :) ) We made fractions of ourselves and classmates. We even talked about the fractions of gumballs in our very own gumball machines!
