At Kimmel Farm Problem-Based Elementary School the THIRD graders live and learn upstairs. This blog will feature tales from their days in the classroom, on the playground and during special events just for them!

A WiLd week!

This week we were crazy busy - and then on Wednesday Night while at home I decided to make it a bit more hectic by having Pirate Day!

We did our normal reading, writing, math and science but to that we added Constitution Day and Pirate Day - take a look.

For Constitution Day we talk about the Constitution and discussed why we have one but we spent the majority of our time talking about the Preamble. The students broke down each line into their own words to discover the true meaning. We also watched the old School House Rock video (yes you likely saw it when you were in school). By the time it was all said and done they were singing the preamble - that is so awesome in my eyes!! Take a trip down memory lane and watch for yourself!

School House Rock - Preamble

On Thursday we had talk like a Pirate Day! This was the most fun I have had teaching yet this year. Pirate reading, pirate writing, pirate math and even pirate recess games. Of course no special day is complete without a special snack - and this day did not disappoint!!!

AARRGGGG Mateys!
